How Rose Bowl Tickets Work
By Rich Muschell November 29, 2012, 3:58 amStanford Fans,
We did it! The Stanford Football team has won the 2012 Pac-12 Championship and will participate in the 99th Rose Bowl Game on January 1, 2013.
We know that you’re really excited to get your Rose Bowl Game tickets, so here are a few important points about how the ticketing process will work:
Stanford’s Rose Bowl seating allocation
The Rose Bowl Game provides Stanford with approximately 32,000 tickets to sell to fans at prices set by the Rose Bowl Management Committee. Approximately two thirds of our allocation is located in the two end zones ($150) and one third on the east sideline ($185). Please see the Rose Bowl stadium map here. The Rose Bowl Management Committee requires that all persons attending the Rose Bowl Game are required to have a ticket, regardless of age. No lap passes for small children are permitted.
We will do our best to fulfill all ticket requests, but from past experience we have learned that many customers want the best available seat location at the highest price. As a result, it is unlikely that there will be enough tickets available in the $185 section to satisfy the demand for these seats. Rose Bowl Game seat locations will thus be assigned based on a customer's level of engagement with Stanford, and stated price level preference.
Please read this blog post for more information on how engagement with the university influences bowl seating assignments.
How to buy tickets and parking
We want to make sure that fans that have supported the team in recent years are given the best opportunity to request tickets. Fans with an existing online tickets account with Stanford Athletics should submit Rose Bowl Game ticket requests online here by Thursday, December 6, at Noon, PT. If you do not request tickets by logging into your existing account, we cannot give you credit for your engagement with Stanford when seats are assigned.
Tickets will go on saleonline only to the general public on Monday, December 3 at 9:00 a.m. PT. The public sale of tickets is limited and subject to availability. It is possible that no public sale will take place if demand for Rose Bowl tickets from account holders is projected to approach or exceed the number of tickets in our allocation.
There is a limit of ten tickets per customer.
NOTE: The Rose Bowl Management Committee requires that all persons attending the Rose Bowl Game are required to have a ticket, regardless of age. No lap passes for small children are permitted.
How seats will be assigned
Based on the last three bowl seasons, we expect that many Stanford fans will want to sit in the $185 section. However, we have a limited number of these tickets at our disposal, and we won’t be able to fulfill all requests. We believe that the fairest way to allocate the limited supply of seats in this section is to provide them to our most engaged fans. Complete information about how bowl seats are allocated can be found here.
You will receive an email with your seat location assignment during the week of December 17.
Shipping options for your tickets
If your order is received on or before December 11, at Noon PT, tickets will be shipped to the address listed on your tickets account. If you are planning to travel during the holiday season and prefer tickets to be shipped to an alternate address, you’ll need to specify this during the ticket order process. Please note that tickets cannot be shipped to P.O. boxes since they are being sent using FedEx.
Tickets will be shipped on or near December 17 using FedEx two-day service. You will receive an email on December 17 with tracking number information.
