Rose Bowl Game: Stanford Fans Represent in the United Kingdom

By Heather Owen January 18, 2013, 9:16 pm

The Stanford Club of Great Britain had a tremendous representation of Cardinal fans at its Rose Bowl Game viewing party at the Jetlag pub in Fitzrovia. In conjunction with the University of Wisconsin’s alumni group, the Stanford Club put on a great event where, as Gretchen Welch describes, “The Badger supporters (who numbered no more than 10) were quite gracious, but probably wondered what they had gotten themselves into when over 50 Stanford fans showed up! Attendees ranged from students who were in town, to local alumni and their families, to Cardinal fans who were visiting London.” There were many non-UK residents who stopped by the viewing party as part of their vacation. One visitor (who came with his wife and teenage sons directly from the theatre) remarked, “We really wanted to see the game, so I Googled “watching Stanford play in the Rose Bowl in London” and found the Alumni Association announcement.  We are so excited to be able to watch with a group of fellow fans!”
